2012 Semi-Finalists National Geography Bee:
Congratulations to all those who participated in the Speech Club Competition. The following students placed in the competition:
1st place - Jessica Tran (8A) - Jessica memorized the entire "I Have a Dream" speech by Martin Luther King, Jr.
2nd place - Cody Elsensohn (6A) - Cody memorized the entire "Gettysburg Address" and even had a stovepipe hat to wear.
3rd place - Madelyn McGovern (6A) - Madelyn memorized the entire "Preamble to the Constitution". (She recited it a second time while doing a handstand!)
Congratulations to the 2012 team - 3rd place in Louisiana! Emily Dong, top 10 in state and Anthony Tran, 4th in state and member of Louisiana state team for Nationals!
Congratulations to the Mathcounts team! They finished third in the chapter competition and will now go on to the state competition. 8th grader Emily Dong finished in second place overall and in first place in the Countdown round. Fellow 8th grader Anthony Tran finished in fourth place overall and in fifth in the Countdown round.

Congratulations to Jaye Washington from KA, Madison Vidal from KC, and William Gossett from KB won the WDSU Weather Picture contest. They each won two Happy Meals from McDonald's, 4 tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters at the N.O. Arena and 4 tickets to the O'Reilly World of Wheels Auto Show and the Convention Center.
Congratulations to Madeleine Erickson from class 7A for winning the Cox Living Louisiana Poster Contest. Madeleine's poster was voted the winner by her upper elementary peers. The poster does a wonderful job depicting the 200th anniversary of Louisiana. Way to go, Madeleine!
